9.        Superintendent's Report

Report cards for the 2nd 9-weeks are going home tomorrow. All schools and offices will be closed next Monday, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. As you are likely aware, we held our Central High School Grand Opening and Open House on Monday, December 12th. This was a great opportunity for the community to view the renovations and additions to Central High School. We had a tremendous turnout – way more than expected. The feedback from parents and community members has been extremely positive. I want to highlight once more our relationship with Grace Hebert Curtis and Lemoine Contractors. Their work to develop spaces that meet student needs and provide for positive student outcomes has been phenomenal. The night culminated with our school board meeting where we honored our five outgoing board members. The new School Board office is on schedule. Over the break, the contractors installed carpet and flooring tile. Electricity is up and running, and we should be fully operational by the beginning of March. We hope to hold our first school board meeting in the new board meeting room on March 13th . I, again, want to thank Senator Bodi White for securing $3.4 million for the new administrative building and parking.
