11.     Superintendent's Report

All of our schools are excited to celebrate Veterans Day today.  Our elementary and middle schools each had patriotic dress with all funds going to support Blue Star Moms.  Also, CMS held their annual Veterans Day program on Friday, and also held another fundraiser for Blue Star Moms.  The high school had intended to do a “Pass the Bucket” fundraiser for Blue Star Moms at the November 1st football game, but the weather prevented it.  We are excited to support this important organization.  We are holding our Board meeting at 5:00 p.m.  tonight so we can attend the Central City Veterans Day Program tonight at the CIS/CMS cafeteria.  The World Language Club at CHS is hosting a Thanksgiving food drive to support families in need.  You can drop off non-perishable food items at the high school now through the 21st.  We will be holding Open Enrollment this week for our health insurance plans.  We will have representatives from Gallagher at our schools each afternoon to assist our employees.  Thank you to Mr. O’Banion and Donnis Boyd for their assistance in making this as smooth as possible.  This past weekend was an athletic showcase for Central High School.  The Volleyball team competed in the second round of the playoffs and lost a hardfought 3-1 match to Chapelle.  Those were two high-quality Volleyball teams and our girls played a great match.  On Saturday, Wrestling hosted the Central Invitational with a total of twelve schools.  The event was a great showcase for this growing program and the CHS facilities.  State playoff brackets were released for football yesterday.  CHS is the #4 seed which means we have a first-round bye.  We will host next Friday, November 22nd against the winner of Denham Springs and West Ouachita.  All in all, it was a great weekend for CHS athletics.  Thanksgiving break will be from Monday, November 25th – Friday, November 29th.  Students will return on Monday, December 2nd.
2nd 9 weeks progress reports will go home this Thursday, November 14th.  Our next Committee Meetings (combined for November and December) will be Monday, December 2nd.  Our next board meeting will be on Monday, December 9th.
